Kara Sigler is excited to offer this class once again at Homestead Apothecary. For myriad reasons there is not enough information or health resources available for trans peoples. With this class we begin to bridge the gap of accessibility and inequality and offer suggestions for self-care and navigating the medical system.
This workshop will cover: Supporting the trans body and spirit with herbs and nutrition. Hormone maintenance with natural remedies, and mitigating side effects of synthetic hormones. Time permitting, we will also discuss herbal support for surgery.
Please bring your experiences and stories to share. All bodies welcome!

9 Month Weekend Class is FULL for 2015
An introductory course on the function of the human body including the actions of herbs specific to each body system, preventive care, and basic herbal therapeutics.
• 10am – 4pm, Saturday and Sunday – one weekend a month for 9 months (90 hours class time)
• 2015 Dates – March 28-29, April 25-26, May 30-31, June 20-21, July 25-26
August 22-23, September 19-20, October 17-18 and November 14-15.

Healing Waters

Our bodies are sacred vessles of ancient oceans. Here in California, the land is crying out for the rain. We will gather together to honor the sacred waters of our bodies and invite the rains to return to the land. Water is life and water is healing. As herbalists, water is the basis of our medicines from infusions to baths. Come learn the myriad applications of water in healing and herbalism. This class will include sacred meditation and ritual, hydrotherapies, sharing of practices incorporating water intentionally into healing our bodies and the earth.

Herb Walks
Kara leads herb walks throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Come walk with the plants in your backyard. Herb walks can be a great way to learn to ID and use the medicinal plants growing all around us, while being in the healing environment of the woods.
Learn plant identification from a medicinal perspective. Spend time learning to recognize and identify native and non-native plants in local parks. This class is suited for the novice to intermediate herbalist, acupuncturists, naturopaths and other practitioners looking to expand their knowledge of local medicinal plants.
